Reflection day on quiet areas

Reflection day on quiet areas
Bruitparif - 23/12/2009
The Urban ecology agency of the City of Paris, in collaboration with the Noise Information and Documentation Centre and Bruitparif, organised a reflection day on “quiet areas” at the Auditorium of the Paris City Hall on February 12th, 2010.
The objective of this conference was to help the local authorities implement one of the main lines of the 2002/49/EC European directive regarding the management of noise in the environment: the preservation of “quiet areas.” Indeed, the definition of these areas is left open in the regulations and the authorities in charge are free to choose the determination criteria.

During this day, several French and European authorities presented their feedback on this aspect of the action plan. On this occasion, Bruitparif ran a participative workshop on the different perceptions of the quiet based on an experimentation carried out on 3 sites in Paris.
