Led by Bruitparif in 20 Ile-de-France high schools, the study confirms that most students can be exposed to high noise levels.
The project, funded by the Regional council, was carried out during the first half of 2009 by Bruitparif and its partners (the CIDB, 01dB-Metravib, the RIF, the hearing aid specialist training from the CNAM). 20 general and vocational high schools spread in the 3 school districts of Créteil, Paris and Versailles were chosen for this pilot study.
The main conclusions of this study are:
- 60% of the studied premises show a good or average acoustic quality;
- the students and the staff are significantly exposed to noise during the day: one student out of two and more than one adult out of four are subjected to average noise levels over 80 dB(A);
- the students are a risk population due to their practices: 54% of the students listen to their MP3 players at levels superior to 85 dB(A).
The study was presented to the High school commission of the Region who congratulated the quality of the work done and hoped for its renewal.
