First Transportation noise atlas for Brussels

First Transportation noise atlas for Brussels
Recommendations - 25/05/2010
The Brussels-Capital Region made strategic noise maps in 2006 within the framework of the 2002/49/EC European directive.
This atlas contains not only the noise maps related to road, rail and air traffic, as well as multi-exposure, for an overview of the transportation noise in 2006, but also some scenarios for 2015 in accordance with the pro-active policy developed by Brussels-Capital in terms of noise management.

Indeed, a five-year plan to fight against urban noise had been implemented as of the year 2000, even before the drawing up of the European directive. A second action plan was later adopted for the 2008-2013 period to meet the requirements of the directive.

This atlas is therefore a reference tool in terms of urban planning and mobility.
